Yet again Sandie has been picking through the postcard collection and has sent in these fabulous views of the past. She’s also sent a little message as follows so i hope you enjoy theses as much as i did when i saw them.
Hi, Another selection for you. The first one is when there was a putting green. Second one is from the 1960’s and shows a diesel with quite a haul of wagons, The third one is of No. 4992 Crosby Hall – taken in 1962. Enlarge it and you will see that most of the men are totally disinterested in the loco but look closely at the boy in the light coloured jumper sat on the wall…………….with a mobile phone?! 🙂 No. 6874 was Haughton Grange, taken in 1954 – scrapped in 1965. Then one for your Christmas Card maybe – a diesel in the snow from 1979.The others are general shots – including more rough water. The final one is interesting because of past discussion as to why the café on the beach survived the tides – now you know. 🙂 Sandie Armstrong.
