Thursday’s clay train has to be brought to Exeter from St. Blazey in two portions due to weight restrictions on the loco to ensure it can control the train over the steep inclines in the Dartmoor section of the line. The first half passes through Teignmouth and Dawlish just after 5pm. The locomotive then returns light engine to collect the second half of the consist before joining the two portions at Exeter Riverside yard and then going on to the Birmingham area. This 2nd portion passes through here at approx 1am. Last night it was running 45 minutes early so Nick Campbell took advantage and recorded it passing through Teignmouth station. The engine was DBCargo 66002, a very rare visitor to Devon.
