It was a cold and misty morning today but the sun was just breaking through when the last of the Cornwall engineering trains made its way back to Westbury from Penzance where it had parked up last night. The loco was Colas 70806 which was hauling the ten now empty autoballaster wagons which had been discharged to make the base for the new trackwork laid over the weekend. The engineering works in Cornwall will continue at weekends for a few more weeks yet.
The train was recorded a little earlier by Nick Campbell as it passed under the Shaldon Bridge on the River Teign and headed for the docks area in Teignmouth. Luckily the Paddington – Penzance HST express cleared the scene just in time.
