The steam engine Tornado is making news currently heralding the impending re-opening of the Settle to Carlisle railway line to normal through workings. A landslip of some 500,000 tons resulted in the line being closed near Armathwaite on 9th February 2016 meaning passenger rail services from Leeds could only go as far as Appleby and thence by bus to Carlisle. No freight services could run at all. The line is expected to reopen fully at the end of March.
