Saturday evening saw the appearance of another weekend infrastructure train. This time it was a consignment of continuous welded rail from the Hinksey Sidings near Oxford to Ivybridge. For reasons unknown (to me) it was routed to go all the way to Par in Cornwall before returning to the work area between Ivybridge and Totnes. The unloaded empty train returned this morning and passed through Teignmouth at 8.45 on its way back to Hinksey sidings.  The locomotive was DB Cargo 66124 and was in the latest red company livery. The rail is in 216m lengths which is approx 8 to the mile and is why you don’t hear the clickety clack any more on a rail journey. Thanks to Nick Campbell for the nighttime plus morning video taken in full Devon gloom!
