Track renewal in the Ivybridge-Totnes area is bringing a rail replacement engineering train along the Dawlish sea wall on four evenings this week as it makes its way from Fairwater Yard at Taunton to Plymouth before making its way back to the work area. On Monday it was top & tailed by Freightliner 66568 & 66550. The video shows footage from the Dawlish Beach cams and then as it leaves the Teignmouth sea wall to pass through the town provided by Nick Campbell. Following in the video is today’s test run to Plymouth from Stoke Gifford with two new Class 800 Hitachi IET’s 80009 named Prince Charles leading and 80030 bringing up the rear. It will probably only be about a month before these trains are in regular passenger service in Devon and Cornwall.
