For the third week running the high output ballast cleaning train is again operating between Teignmouth and Newton Abbot. This week it is programmed in for Mon/Tues/Weds nights and due to pass through Dawlish at 10.30pm and return sometime in the middle of the night. Last night Nick thought he would try a different viewpoint at Teignmouth station and was surprised to see the train come to a stand for approx 10 minutes and subsequently delay two Plymouth bound express trains. However that does give a better opportunity of having a good look at the train’s consist!
A little difficult to read on the picture but the motif behind the cab window read Zero Injuries Our goal every day. The train is reported consist of 45 wagons, 2504 feet,(approx half a mile)in length and weigh 2872 tonnes.
