Today we saw one of the dedicated claret liveried Royal train locomotives 67006 “Royal Sovereign” powering an excursion from Letchworth to Paignton. The route was via the East coast main line which it joined at Hitchin before calling in at Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Potters Bar and Finsbury Park It then circled north London through Camden, Hampstead Heath and Willesden before joining the Great Western main line at Acton. It then followed the normal route to Reading and the Berks & Hants line to Westbury. A five and a quarter hour journey. Pictured below as it was leaving Teignmouth sea wall and about to go through the station where it was captured on it’s return
And finally approaching the Rockstone bridge on Dawlish sea wall.
