The English Riviera Statesman was the title for the Pullman car excursion from Crewe to Paignton and was hauled double headed by 47501/D1944 “Craftesman” & 47810/D1924 Crewe Diesel Depot”.  The locos are numbered to reflect the time when they were new in 1966 with the attractive two tone livery. Altogether they looked very smart along with the immaculate Statesman Pullman set of 11 coaches. There will be another opportunity to see this train  on August 31st when it will be down with the “Dartmouth Regatta Statesman” from Nottingham to Kingswear.
