Due to the Covid restrictions it was deemed not cost effective to operate the Devonian Express Midland Pullman excursion from Peterborough to Kingswear on May 3rd which has now been re-programmed to run on August 30th which is good news. The Midland Pullman is still expected to pass through on May 29th with the Cornish Coastal Pullman tour from Eastleigh to Penzance. Also on that day we are expecting a steam train excursion with 60163 Tornado heading the South Devon Explorer tour from Woking to Plymouth. An unexpected sight last night was a test run of seven coaches of the Belmond VSOE Pullman train ( Venice & Simplon Orient Express) as it headed back to its base at Stewarts Lane depot in London. The leading locomotive 67012 was still in the base livery colours of the Wrexham and Shropshire Railway company though that ceased trading in 2011 when the locomotive was named “A Shropshire Lad”. On the tail end was 67016 in the old EWS livery. Thanks to Noel Downie who provided the photograph of the train as it passed through South Brent. The video shows the train passing through Teignmouth station and then when along the Dawlish sea wall.
